The tension ignited when Peggy, during a recent interview with Pigeons & Planes, declared himself the undisputed king of his lane while announcing his upcoming album, *EXPERIMENTAL RAP*. "I'm already the best in this space of experimental rap. There's no one who competes with me," JPEGMAFIA stated, before taking what many saw as direct subliminal shots at Earl. He criticized peers who "want to pretend and try to be cool" or who "want to f***ing rap like Lucki." Earl Sweatshirt didn't let the comments slide. Taking to Instagram, the former Odd Future lyricist fired back with heavy sarcasm: "lmao leave me alone pls i make music with my Friends that i have (derogatory). nobody copies cuh because his music is gnarled rough and ugly (derogatory)." Peggy immediately escalated the situation, hitting back at Earl's career trajectory and upbringing.
